I Strongly oppose AB147. Please consider amendments to protect minor children in Nevada. Written parental consent for all treatment is absolutely necessary and Section 10; 2d needs to be updated to reflect that. Please remove sections 26-29. “Required dental examinations” for school or daycare admittance is unacceptable.

BILL DETAILS

1. Will allow dentists to administer vaccines with a “special license endorsement”. There is no shortage of access to vaccines – do not incorporate public health into dentistry.

2. Creates teledentistry. Allows a non-licensed person (including community health worker, teacher, provider of health
care or student who is enrolled in a program of study in dentistry to “collaborate in real time” with patient while dentist would be on the computer screen or phone. Require “real time collaboration” partners to have some qualifications.

3. As relating to teledentistry treatment Section 10, 2d allows verbal or written consent from the patient. REMOVE the word VERBAL and require written consent AND add language that specifically requires parental/guardian written consent for minors.

4. Makes mention of requiring dental screenings for children as a condition of admittance to public or private school & day care. While the bill does not force this requirement now, it sets up the framework for a future mandate.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING PROTECT NEVADA CHILDREN AND PARENTAL RIGHTS!
